Contract won to build barge for Norfolk Broads
We are delighted to have been awarded the contract to build a new Wherry barge for the Norfolk Broads Authority.
It will be a similar design to ‘Gleaner’, the barge pictured above which was built last year.
This new design of wherry is small enough to navigate the narrower rivers like the Chet and Ant and can carry up to 40 tonnes of sediment in the hold.
Ryder heads to Ireland
The Bodinnick Ferry had a special cargo this morning.
The old Looe lifeboat ‘Ryder’ has been with us for the winter and has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme.
She is heading to Courtmacsherry in Southern Ireland to take part in events to mark the centenary of the sinking of the Lusitania.
A lorry was transported to the boatyard by the ferry and Ryder was loaded ready for her journey all the way to Courtmacsherry.
RYA Powerboat Training Centre
We are proud to announce that C. Toms & Son is now a RYA Training Centre for powerboat courses.
From later this month, we will be offering RYA Powerboat 1 and 2 qualifications together with own boat tuition.
The RYA programme provides a great basis for learning to drive a powerboat safely and confidently.
We are fortunate that the tidal waters in and around Fowey Harbour provide the perfect training ground for learning to handle a powerboat.
All of our courses will be run by our new team member, Harry, who is an experienced RYA instructor.
Call Harry in the office on 01726 870232 for more information or take a look at the new Powerboating section of this site for details of all the courses.
