Contract to build Thames barge
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded a contract to build a Thames barge for Sea-Change Sailing Trust in Essex.
The build will be a replica of ‘Blue Mermaid’, the last Thames sailing barge which was lost in the 2nd World War.
It will be the first Thames barge to be built for 85 years and we will be responsible for constructing the steel hull and delivering it to Malden.
Sea-Change provides opportunities for young people and vulnerable adults to learn and develop through living and working together aboard traditional sailing vessels. They have raised funds for our part of the build and their fundraising campaign has been endorsed by the Mayor of London amongst others.
We will share our progress on this high profile project here during the coming months.
Positions vacant – Fabricator/Welders
We are currently recruiting new fabricator/welders to work on forthcoming new build and repair projects in our boatyard.
We are looking for experienced fabricators with experience in mig, stick and arc welding. Coded welding qualifications would be an advantage.
Previous experience in the marine industry is not essential.
